Globalization
Science is the reason we are a global, soon to be multi-planet species. Through its uses and applications, it has allowed us to strive to our greatest. Through the simplest actions, such as watching the sun rise and set every day, it has allowed us to dive deeper into, why? Nicholas Copernicus (1473–1543) was a fine example of progress in changing how we see the world. He discovered without telescopes that the earth is not the "universe's" center. This has allowed us to look deeper into how we understand the Earth. When it comes to in our world technology and new innovations have allowed us to intertwine and spread across the world. Look at the internet, it now allows humans to talk to each other across the world in an almost instant timing. Or transportation, with the discovery of engines and physics we have been able to get anywhere across the world in less than a day, or even outside of the world. "Our modern world is unimaginable without energy – lots of it" (233). Here is a prime example of our world without globalization. Really think about a world without transportation?
Modernization
Modernization and Globalization intertwine in many ways. we have been able to globalize because of modernizing. We have also modernized because of conquering the entire Earth and discovering new places and species. We are where we are now because of science. Without science, we couldn't have been able to modernize. If we step back and see what modernization really is, it is how humans have adapted to modern needs. New discoveries such as transportation, chemistry, and so much more have eased our lives greatly.
Importance
I believe I can say this for everyone and say, science is one of the most important developments in human history, if not the most important. Without it we would have the skills of a monkey, after all, that's what science connected humans too. Humans are creative and intellectual species that are always wanting to learn, even at a subconscious level. You are here reading this website wanting to be informed about science and history. To go even further, without science you would be sitting in that chair reading this currently.
